Moto Jacket

Red tank, Target; Leather Moto Jacket, Forever 21; Jeans, Victoria's Secret; Shoes, Aldo

Victoria's Secret now sells jeans in their Pink department! Well, they've BEEN selling them but I highly recommend checking them out. I normally don't go for ripped jeans but I couldn't resist when these boot cut jeans actually FIT ME and were long enough for my legs.

They also have short, regular, and long lengths and they come in a bunch of styles. I really like having jeans that fit.

In case no one's noticed...I've dyed my hair black. It's quite a change, but I've grown to love it because now I can wear really dark lipsticks without looking like a clown. Right now I'm wearing MAC in "Media". I've also grown to love Chanel's Rouge Hydrabase lipstick in "Fire". I found the color in a magazine and it said that it was universally flattering...and they are right! I've tried it on my friends and it really does seem like the best red lipstick for most skintones. So if you're looking for a good red lipstick, that's my recommendation.

My days have been a bit hectic...between the breakup with my boyfriend of four years and the stress of school/family issues, I've been a bit blue. (Don't worry, as far as breakups go, this was a pretty good one...it was mutual, we're still friends and care about each other very much but we grew and changed a lot since high school and we're just not right for each other anymore)

Anyways, I LOVE this jacket. Only problem I have is with the snaps on the top, but I'm going to have this jacket altered or do it myself. You can't go wrong with a good moto jacket!

Beach Day!

Oh no! A bathing suit picture on my blog! EEK!

Anyways, I had LOADS of fun today hanging out with my friends at the beach. We did all sorts of crazy stuff and it was a blast (except for my several near drownings from getting pulled underwater and getting thrown into the rocks...)

I got a bit scratched up, and I decided it was best to wear shorts to cover the damage to my thighs.

Anywho, it's like, a two hour drive to the beach and kind of confusing to get to so it's honestly not that easy just to go...it's gotta be planned. I went with 7 of my closest friends and I had to lead the way in my car. Now, despite the fact that I had only driven there once before, I managed to find my way.

Then, after we watched the sunset and stopped for dinner, we tried to go back...AND THE STATE ROAD WAS CLOSED. I tried to follow the detour, but it ended up not intersecting with the state road like it was supposed to...so I had to take a completely different road home. We didn't have a GPS, no map, and my other friend was following me in his truck because his sense of direction is TERRIBLE.

Somehow, I managed to figure out a really weird way home...and I'm pretty impressed with myself.

Anyways, I have LOADS of homework to take care of this weekend. Toodles for now!

Planning

I know, I know. I've taken FOREVER and a day to finally update my blog. Between working like crazy to pay for the damage to my car (which, during the the time when I had to drive it around with a smashed door, I nicknamed it Harvey Dent...get it? Two Face? No batman fans here?) and getting ready to go back to college, I've been really swamped and not able to keep up the blog.

But the good news is, Harley is fixed. (I named my car Harley Quinn, and yes, I actually DO greet my car before I drive it. I'm weird like that. My friends are taking bets on how long it takes till I stop doing that...but I honestly don't think its going to happen anytime soon).

Anyways, I plan on wearing this outfit to my friend's birthday party. I had just finished unpacking my room and came across all the clothes that I had in storage and I just got so inspired and wanted to try stuff on in different ways.

So, here are some pictures of my dorm room. Keep in mind that its small and such, but I've really grown to love it.

I am TECHNICALLY not allowed to have candles in my room but because the dorm isn't air conditioned, when I first got here, it smelled a little funky (might be the asbestos in the walls...its a 100 year old building), but once I got the AC set up and the candles going it smells really nice and pleasant and homey in here now.

I've been a busy bee, I'm taking Biochemistry, Embryonic Development, and Genetics. It doesn't sound like a lot, but its 12 credits and I'm trying to keep up with the work.

However, in my spare time, I've been working on a little project:
Sketch 1
Initial paint
More paint

I admit, I've become extremely anti-social lately. Perhaps its the fact that a lot has been going on (Dad's job/surgery) joined with my terrible financial situation (my car ended up costing me nearly $800 to get fixed, because I had to pay the deductible, AND for the rental car upgrade + insurance on it) and ended up going back to school nearly broke. Which sucks a lot. I keep praying that everything works out for me, though.

Mixed emotions.

So, I got a new car yesterday:

Not exactly the same, but you get the idea. It's a beautiful car, imo. Light beige interior, white, absolutely lovely.

I paid for my insurance 6 months in advance, and I was all set. I drove my car home, and I was so happy.

This morning, I woke up to take my physics test. I was so excited, because I could now drive myself to school, rather than nagging my parents or friends for a ride. I no longer have to wait for other people anymore.

I walk out to my car. I had left a note for my mom saying that I would probably stop by my grandmother's house to visit my cousin, because I knew he wanted to ride in/try driving my car.

I walk to my car. Someone, in the middle of the night, had hit it. I don't have my camera, so I can't show you the damage, but trust me, it was bad. The rearview mirror is hanging by it's cords. the door is completely dented and scraped up. I was hysterical for about 10 minutes. I couldn't go to my exam, I had to wait for the police to show up. I called my professor, thankfully, he's letting me take a makeup exam on Monday. The police can't do anything, but they said to watch for the neighbor's cars and see if they have damage. It's clear that I was hit by a black truck. My neighbor across the street has a black truck. He pulls out of the driveway like a maniac half the time. I have to call the police if I see damage on their vehicle.

There was no note on my car. I can't even focus right now, I'm so upset. I haven't even owned the car for a day yet and I already have to pay to get it fixed. Plus, my insurance rates are going to go up now that I've had a claim. All this because of someone else's selfishness.

I am 21 years old. This is my first car. Most people in my area got cars at the age of 16. I've waited patiently, for years, for my time to come, and now that it has, someone has ruined it for me.

I feel bad for complaining, but it's almost undriveable at this point. I managed to jerryrig a system to hold the mirror up with some speakerwire and its not TOO noticeable, but the huge dent in the side, is. At least I can close the door and the window and still have the mirror stay up. And the motor in the mirror still works too, which is good.

Sigh. Sometimes life can be so unfair.

Brilliant Brunette Luminous Color Glaze

One thing I genuinely love about myself is my hair. I've always had very long, healthy hair for my entire life. Generally speaking, I rarely get split ends and it typically cooperates with what I want it to do. I use a smörgåsbord of hair products and have probably tried just about every single brand on the market, both drugstore and salon quality.

Anyways. I've noticed that my hair has been getting sort of dull because of the summer heat and humidity. I wanted something to bring back some of the shine and color that I normally have, so I picked up this product.

After reading a few reviews online, I got a bit scared of this product, but since it cost $8 and I don't really have money to waste, I decided to give it a shot.

First thing I had to do was wash my hair normally, then put this glaze in my hair and wait 3 minutes. The glaze has the consistency of room temperature pudding. It was difficult to distribute evenly, and the first thing this product did was stain my hands. After a bit of scrubbing, I managed to get the stain off and sat patiently for the product to set into my hair.

After my 3 minutes were up, I rinsed it out the best I could with conditioner. I finished up and waited as I normally do for my hair to dry.

I noticed while combing out my wet hair that my hair felt softer, and when I was curling it, I noticed it had a deeper shine to it and looked much better. Though the color isn't any darker, I'm very pleased with the shine results that I received.

I plan on using this product the next time I notice that it doesn't have as much shine as I would like.

I give this product a B-. The fact that it stains really puts me off, and the fact that it was hard to get through my hair, and out of my hair also makes me a bit nervous. However, I am pleased with how much softer and shinier my hair is.

MAC nail polish review

I let my friend borrow my camera for the three weeks that he's going to be in New York, so now I don't have one! I still want to keep this blog going, so I'm going to something unprecidented. I will review various cosmetics and nail polish brands for you and then you don't have to waste your money trying something that might not work!

Anyways, MAC nail polish comes in loads of different colors, with new ones being released for each season and line. They are $11 each and can be found in any MAC store or online.

Anyways, onto the review:

Pros: The application is great, goes on very smooth, and the colors are quite vivid for the first coat.

Cons: a bit on the pricey side, doesn't really last very long at all (started chipping in 2 days, whereas OPI tends not to chip for at least a week in my experience). Also, now I know why the colors were so vivid. They stained my nails!

Overall score: D+

The price is really high for something that's practically drugstore quality. If I wanted something that would chip, I would have paid $2.50 at walmart for the "Petites" brand polish, that usually lasts about 5 days before chipping. I was pretty unhappy with the experience and I wish I could take it back.

Little change of pace. I have some interesting news. I am going to be getting a car soon! I have a bit more saving to do before this is possible, but I'm thinking in about 3 weeks, I should have everything that I need squared away!

I am HOPING to get a red Mustang. I've always had a special spot in my heart for muscle cars (Sometimes, people ask me if I'm really a girl, haha). There are actually three cars I've wanted to own in my life.

The 2009 Concept Camaro, a la Transformers
A 1978 Pontiac Firebird
And a Mustang.

Also, I saw the movie Public Enemies last night. Not a bad movie at all! Some parts were a bit...dry but it was kind of interesting to be rooting for the "bad" guy the whole film.

Blah. Rain. I HATE YOU.

So all that its been doing for the past...well, MONTH is raining. And why does this bother me? Because when I curl my hair, the humidity and rain pretty much makes my hair go completely straight.

Anyways. Not much has been going on in my life lately. Now, my boyfriend is better, but my mom is deathly ill, which sucks because now I feel like I can't go anywhere today because then I'd be leaving her alone. I don't know. I wanted to just go out and DO something.

So, I saw Transformers for the second time last night. And I am very happy that my favorite Autobot, Arcee, finally got her chance on the silver screen, but I think Micheal Bay killed her off (we get to see her blasted right after she talks to Sam in Egypt). However, the movie wasn't as spectacular as the first one. I feel like it was too...explosion heavy. I also don't get why Jetfire has a bad hip. Someone needs to explain that to me. Whatever, anyways.

So, I know I promised pictures of my work clothes, but today, I didn't work, but I did go to school. So, you guys are going to get to see how I dress in the summer when I'm not trying to be creative or anything like that. However, the battery on my camera is completely dead, so pictures will be up later.

Interesting day yesterday...

I took this quick picture to show my boyfriend what boots I was talking about. I don't know what possessed me to try and dress like an anime character, but I wanted to wear these boots so badly! Maybe it's because of the Italian editorial last post, creeping in my mind.

Anyways, I apologize for the poor picture quality, but its a pretty simple/basic outfit where none of the pieces really match but somehow seem to look good together. Since the quality is low, I'll explain what I'm wearing (white v neck from Old Navy, Dark Navy shorts from forever 21, dark grey cardigan from forever 21, purse from a Victoria's Secret (it was a gift from my aunt 5 years ago) and boots from when I was 13 and went to Canada (I think they are steve maddens).

I went to see the Proposal last night, and I absolutely loved Sandra Bullock's character. Also, she dressed so nicely! First scene, she's wearing a black pencil skirt ensemble with the Louboutin Very Prive peeptoe pumps (sad really that I can identify each style of Louboutin shoe...) and a brown Prada bag. I really, really liked that they had her carry a brown bag, rather than a black one. It looked really nice on the screen and definitely not out of place at all.

Anyways, I was out with the boyfriend and he was really, really sick. I made him take me home when I noticed he had a fever.

So I went out again later on with some friends from work, had a migraine, and had to come home. Oh well.

I work every day this week. Blah. I close every single day. Double blah. I'll take pictures of my work outfits, so expect to see about 6 posts in a row of me wearing 100% black.

Italian Editorial

My style cannot possibly be described in one word. Or even twenty. But I can honestly say there are a few things that I love:

Gothic/Victorian styles: I adore the dark colors, the lace, the feminine curves of a corset dress, the spiderweb styled gloves, stunning pops of crimson, and black chiffon. I know its not practical, so I don't have much from that style genre, but I intend to get more of it.

Romantic styles: Pinks, delicate rose colors, and mint greens in chiffon make me feel clothed and gorgeous. I like lithe, light dresses made of light fabrics because they make me feel so...classical. I can't explain it.

So when I saw this editorial, it blew me away, from both a creative, artistic standpoint and a stylish one. I wish I could incorporate some of the detailing from this shoot into my everyday life.

Sometimes...I really wish I was a model. So that I could wear stuff like this and feel like well, a work of art.

Also, I wonder, do any of you want to see how I dress for work? I have to wear all black, and I also work for several hours long each day (I wore my loubs today for a 6 hour shift and I was so SORE at the end of the day, haha, flats are much better for running on marble floors!) so my outfits aren't terribly interesting, but I always get complimented on the stuff I wear so I figured you guys wouldn't mind seeing some of it? Let me know, ok?

I would have an affair with these shoes

They were designed by Coppelia Pique, a new French brand with luscious, innovative designs. These are a couple of photographs from their shoots, and I can honestly say I am already a devoted fan of this line. The delicate lace details (I have, and will always be, a lover of lace...) and the sexy corsets make me wish more and more that I had the power to purchase these items.

However, for the moment, their website is down, so it is unknown how and where I could purchase these shoes. (I really, truly would buy them and wear them...just imagine the possibilities! In the winter, with burgundy tights, in the evening, with a high slit silk dress, with a simple high waisted skirt and tucked blouse for late afternoon...)

Shoe lust: I have it now.
